I am originally from Pennsylvania.  At the University of Pittsburgh I completed both my Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Social Work.  Since 2006, I have been a licensed social worker in Ontario.  In over a decade of practice I have treated a diverse range of  issues and worked with several different populations.  Though I treat all ages, my clinical speciality is children, adolescents, teens, and their families.

Specifically, I have expertise in treating school avoidance and other issues revolving around school performance.  School avoidance is a potentially serious issue that can go from bad to worse in a relatively short period of time.  It is crucial to identify  issues with school avoidance early in order for treatment to have a successful outcome.

If you notice that your child seems anxious in the mornings before school, and you frequently receive phone calls from the school saying that you child is not feeling well and/or needs to come home, this is possibly school avoidance.  Please contact me so that we can address these issues together and help your child have a more positive experience with school.  Do not wait until your child is no longer attending school at all.

Dealing with a child withs school avoidance can be really frustrating at times.  The important thing to keep in mind is that most of the time, children struggling with school avoidance really do want to attend school and they do want to do well, despite how they may behave.

In addition to providing evidenced-based treatments,  I am also knowledgeable about community resources and utilize those resources when appropriate.  I have extensive experience working in collaboration with local school boards.  If your child is struggling with school, I know how to advocate for your child to ensure your child’s school puts in place the appropriate supports to help you and your child.
